I provide individualized reading intervention designed to build strong skills and confidence in a supportive learning environment. My instruction is grounded in research on how the brain learns to read and tailored to each student’s learning profile.
Your child may benefit from specialized instruction if they:
struggle to sound out words
guess instead of reading carefully
read slowly or avoid reading altogether
fall behind despite effort and support
have been diagnosed with or suspected of having dyslexia or another reading disability
For most kids, the issue isn’t ability; they simply haven’t yet received the type of instruction that aligns with how they learn best.
Many students come to me feeling frustrated after previous interventions have failed. By drawing on my extensive toolkit of research-based approaches grounded in the science of reading, I tailor instruction to what each student truly needs.
Instruction will likely include:
phonemic awareness development
decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling) skills
reading fluency and comprehension
clear strategies for understanding complex phonics patterns
morphology (Greek & Latin roots) for vocabulary growth
parent guidance and support
Instruction may incorporate Wilson Reading (Orton-Gillingham based), Structured linguistic phonics (speech-to-print approach), and/or Lindamood-Bell programs.
Learning to read should not feel discouraging or boring.
My background in educational therapy helps me create a supportive learning environment where students can feel comfortable, capable, and motivated to keep trying.
Sessions are designed to:
build strong rapport and trust from the start
keep students engaged and actively involved
help students recognize their personal strengths
build a more positive mindset about reading
incorporate movement or exercise breaks when needed
When students begin to feel more confident and engaged, they become more willing to practice the skills they are learning both inside and outside of my office.
I also work with homeschool families to offer reading services and advise parents on all things homeschool.
Services may include:
Reading lessons built into the school day
Guidance on supporting reading at home
Advising on curriculum and interest-led, project-based learning
Help with instructional strategies for general homeschooling support
Both my professional background and my personal experience homeschooling my own children with learning differences allow me to provide families with expert guidance and compassionate support.
I have worked with students with learning differences for more than 25 years in both school and private practice settings.
My work focuses on helping struggling readers develop the skills they need to become strong, confident learners.
